Congratulations are in order for the Westchester Women’s Bar Association. The CLE program that they presented on September 9, 2014, entitled, “Appellate Practice: Seminar and Demonstrations,” was a huge success. The two-hour evening program featured instructions by four esteemed judges, namely Hon. Jeffrey A. Cohen, Hon. Mark C. Dillon, Hon. Sondra A. Miller and Hon. Robert A. Spolzino. Each of them shared his or her valuable expertise regarding Appellate Division Jurisdiction, Motion Practice in the Appellate Division, the Do’s and Don’ts of Brief Writing, Oral Argument, and New York Court of Appeals Practice. Later in the evening, the judges served as an appellate panel while Dolores Gebhardt, Esq. and Daniel M. Kolko, Esq. demonstrated how to appear (and not to appear) before an appellate court.
More than 50 appellate practitioners attended this event, which was held at Hudson Valley Bank headquarters in Yonkers, NY. The general atmosphere in the room and the comments about the content were excellent. Attendees found the program not only informative and useful, but actually enjoyable. This was also a great opportunity for local appellate practitioners to meet their peers, exchange information relating to appellate practice and network.
My colleague Kersuze Morancy, Esq. and I attended on behalf of Counsel Press. Counsel Press was proud to sponsor this worthwhile event. We look forward to continuing our relationship with the Westchester Women’s Bar Association, including sponsoring their appellate events and presenting our appellate CLE courses.
